Rescuers in Nepal have pulled two workers alive from a hydropower tunnel following devastating floods that struck the Nepal-China border. The rescue occurred at the Trishuli 3A Hydropower Project, where at least 115 workers are believed trapped after the disaster. The two men, a mechanical foreman and supervisor, were extracted nine days after the floods, which also left over 5,000 people missing nationwide.

Emergency teams continue searching for survivors in the affected area, with officials expressing hope for additional rescues. The floods, likely caused by a glacier collapse, destroyed towns and villages, resulting in at least 1,259 fatalities. Nepal's Communication Minister highlighted the ongoing efforts, stating authorities remain optimistic about saving more lives.

The tragedy has impacted multiple hydropower projects, with around 900 workers missing across 12 sites. Local authorities reported that some trapped individuals might still be alive, prompting continued rescue operations. The incident underscores the region's vulnerability to extreme weather events linked to climate change.

International attention has focused on the disaster, with neighboring regions also experiencing severe impacts. As rescue efforts persist, the focus remains on locating and aiding those still missing in the aftermath of the catastrophic flooding.
